Atom and Peewee Skill Development Camp Body Checking
We initiate and follow a developmental model for Checking endorsed by Hockey Canada. Our progressive approach allows the participant to understand and develop the fundamental techniques essential with successful checking.
The whole point of hitting another person with your body is to separate him from the puck and thus prevent him from scoring. The critical element here is that the use of the body is supposed to be intended to separate the puck carrier from the puck.
Body contact will occur as a natural element of the game of hockey at any level. It is important that you understand the difference between body contact and body checking as the terms are applied in hockey
